Only in the early morning.* Here’s why.
- Your schedule: Your day is least likely to explode early in the morning, before you get to work. This reduces the chance you’ll miss coaching sessions and suffer setbacks in the success plan I’ve helped you create.
- My energy: Coaching takes an enormous amount of energy, as I need to motivate myself and you at the same time. I’m like work energy expert Tony Schwartz—“my energy, my will, and my capacity for intense focus diminish as the day wears on.” In other words, I’m a morning person. You’re paying a lot for my coaching; I simply refuse to sell it to you when I can’t give you 100 percent.
- Practicing what I preach: Batching tasks is a highly effective way to get more done and do it better. I’m also an organizational development consultant—so I batch coaching work in the early morning, and consulting work in the later morning. “Multitasking is a chance to accomplish many things poorly, all at once.”
